Bay Area Citrix User Group Community (CUGC) Meetup October 2018 – Guest Blog Post by Donald Wong
On October 17, 2018, the second Bay Area CUGC meetup took place at SINO of Santa Row, located in a trendy hotspot of Silicon Valley. Based presumably on the feedback from the first meetup, the CUGC leaders decided to have it at a quieter venue. Even though it was at an open patio area, there was less noticeable noise, so attendees could chat and adequately listen to the presentations.
The turnout again was fantastic, as we had a great mix of customers, partners/VARs, and vendors, all well represented to share their diverse ideas.
After everyone had a chance to meet, greet, and check in, CUGC leaders Shams Madhani, Toan Thai, and Garren Quibelan kicked off the event with a quick state of the union on the current initiatives and the agenda. Cool Shirts guys!
Liquidware was the first vendor up to deliver a short presentation on their solution that includes, but is not limited to: Workspace Environment Management, Application Layering, and Monitoring & Diagnostics. Jack Smith from Liquidware dives into how the Profile Unity suite works in managing a VDI environment and its capabilities for on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. You can download a full copy of the presentation by clicking on this link.
During breaks, attendees had ample opportunity to grab their favorite libations and connect with other community users to share thoughts and exchange ideas. If nothing else, these events are always a great opportunity to pick up a few tips and network with others.
Next on deck was Dimitri Petropolis from Citrix. He provided everyone with a update on the latest around Citrix Workspace, the new replacement app for Citrix Receiver that was announced during Citrix Synergy earlier this year. The ability to enhance user experience all through one portal is certainly impressive. The granular features include better Access Control, SSO, and Enhanced Security/Web Filtering. You can download a copy of Dimitri’s presentation here.
We had another impressive showing from the Bay Area CUGC community and it shouldn’t stop here. There were some familiar faces, but there were a lot of new ones who participated. With the increase in attendance, it’s only a matter of time before a CUGC XL will be held in the Bay Area! We hope everyone who came out enjoyed the event. Please continue to provide the feedback to our CUGC leaders so we can make future events better catered to your interests. A big thanks to the vendors, sponsors, and also the CUGC leaders for another successful event!
