Microsoft App-V 5: Installation and Configuration Using Windows Server 2012 and Windows 8! Part 1
I have been spending quite a bit of time building and playing with Microsoft App-V 5 in my lab and decided I would post a quick setup guide to help get evaluation and initial environments up and running. This blog series will be broken into many parts, from SQL to App-V management, reporting, publishing, load balancing, sequencing, and client installations. The following topology diagram shows the initial environment including all the pieces broken out for scalability and high availability:
For easy reading, I’ve broken this blog post into five parts:
Part 1: Microsoft SQL Server Installation <– YOU ARE HERE
Part 2: Management and Reporting Server Installation
Part 3: Publishing Server Installation, Registration, and Load Balancer Configuration
Part 4: Sequencing and Client Installation
Let’s get started. First thing we need to do is mount the SQL Server 2012 media on the first App-V Management Server (WS12APPV501 in my topology). Once mounted, launch Setup:
Click Installation:
Click New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation:
Click OK:
Click Select Evaluation and click Next:
Accept the license terms and click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Select All Features With Defaults and click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Add Current User:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Add Current User:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Next:
Click Install:
After several minutes the installation will complete. Monitor progress through the installation:
Once successful, click Close:
Close the Installation Center:

Thanks for this document, in the App-V 5 Topology diagram you have mentioned a sequencing workstation and a sequencing server, I see what the workstation is for but not I am not clear about sequencing server, can you please explain what that is for ?

This would simply be used if you were going to deliver to Remote Desktop Session Hosts (RDSH), like XenApp for example.
